Meet Gabriel - Associate Trumpet Teacher

Gabriel R. Velasco was raised in Albuquerque, NM. He followed in his parents footsteps and started playing trumpet at 11 years-old.

     He attended the University of New Mexico in 2011 and earned degrees in both Trumpet Performance and Music Education. While attending the UNM, he taught at middle and high schools in both the concert and marching band setting. Then he went to University of Utah as a graduate teaching assistant and taught undergraduate trumpet students, Symphonic Band, Pride of Utah Marching Band, and pep bands. Both at UNM and University of Utah, he performed with their respective top Concert Bands, Orchestras, and Jazz Bands. He has also performed with the Blue Knights and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.

    In 2013, Gabriel relocated to Los Angeles, CA, serving as the Assistant Director and Director of Instrumental Music at Moorpark High School and Brass Coach at Chaparral Middle School andMesa Verde Middle School of the Moorpark Music Family. As a performer, Gabriel has been working with the Westlake Village Symphony, Ventura College Symphony, Moorpark College Wind Ensemble, Center Stage Opera, and serving as the Principal Trumpet for the Los Angeles Symphonic Winds.
