Meet Justin - Violin Teacher

Hi, my name is Justin Zhang and I have been playing the violin since I was 11 years old. Growing up in Bellevue Washington, I attended Tyee Middle School and Newport High School. where I was part of the school orchestra and took private lessons from Mr. Haiying Li at the Pacific Northwest School of Music. While a member at the music school, I performed at school’s Honor Solo Recitals and Concerts. I became a member of Newport High School Chamber Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra during my Sophomore to Senior year, the highest level of ensemble at Newport. In my Sophomore year, I was awarded the Most Improved Player voted by fellow musicians and became the Newport High School’s Knights in Venna (fundraiser) poster design winner my junior year. Midst my senior year, my string quartet was selected to collaborate with the Evergreen City Ballet’s Dreams and Diversions event where I performed music alongside dancers.

Outside of playing the violin, I am also an Eagle Scout and have many experiences teaching youths. While I was the Senior Patrol Leader of my boy scout troop, I was responsible for conducting weekly meetings and leading the troop during summer camp. Expectations such as helping younger scouts grow and keeping them safe were always a priority for me. In the summer of 2019, I worked as Counselor in Training assisting Program Director to
manage the Scout Skills and taught Trial to First Class Training Course offered to 11 to 15-year-old scouts.

Being a former member of the school orchestra and a private lesson student, I wish to share and teach my knowledge and passion of music with others. And with my experiences in both music and teaching, I hope to serve as an educating and enjoyable teacher to the best of my ability.
