Meet Olivia - Piano Teacher

Olivia Hu, a dedicated piano instructor, possesses a sincere passion for music that she is eager to share with her students. Originally from Beijing, China, Olivia has been playing the piano for over eleven years. She began her training at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, a widely recognized music school considered the pinnacle for music education in China. Under the guidance of Dr. Wang Bing, a Central Conservatory of Music graduate, Olivia reached the highest level of the Central Conservatory of Music's piano program at a young age and also passed the highest level of the ABRSM.

When Olivia moved to the United States at 14, she continued her musical journey with Dr. Adam Aleksander, a respected teacher in the greater Seattle area. Olivia has participated in numerous piano performances and competitions, providing her with a solid foundation to guide students in their musical pursuits.

Olivia's teaching approach is characterized by a focus on making piano lessons enjoyable and goal-oriented. She places a strong emphasis on guiding students to connect with the emotions inherent in each piece, fostering independent emotional interpretation and understanding. Olivia's teaching style goes beyond the technical aspects of piano playing; she encourages students not only to play but also to feel and internalize the expressive elements of the music.

Recognizing that each student has unique preferences, Olivia tailors her approach to meet individual musical tastes. She ensures a balance between fundamental piano skills and the freedom for students to choose pieces they are passionate about. Olivia is committed to aligning the chosen pieces with each student's skill level, creating a tailored and fulfilling musical experience for everyone under her guidance.
