Meet Robert - Piano, Guitar, & Brass Teacher
Robert Aguilar is a highly dedicated and adaptable music educator with over twelve years of professional teaching experience. Holding a Bachelor of Music in K-12 Music Education from Arizona State University, Robert has built a career centered on empowering students to discover their unique musical voices. During his time at ASU, Robert had the distinct privilege of studying his primary instrument, the French Horn, under the renowned master pedagogue Dr. John Ericson. This rigorous, collegiate-level training instilled in him a deep understanding of instrumental technique, brass pedagogy, and curriculum design, allowing him to deliver world-class instruction to students of all ages and skill levels.
For more than a decade, Robert served as a Band Director and Music Educator within the Arizona public school system, spending eleven years leading comprehensive music programs for the Florence Unified School District. Throughout his tenure, he directed competitive marching bands, conducted concert ensembles, and taught diverse classes ranging from high school guitar and piano to elementary general music. While he successfully managed large-scale programs and complex district events, Robert ultimately realized that his true passion lies in one-on-one mentorship. By transitioning to private instruction—including successful tenures teaching customized lessons at commercial studios like Guitar Center—he is now able to focus entirely on the individual, tailoring every lesson to a student's specific learning style, musical goals, and personal pacing without the stress of a crowded classroom.
Robert specializes in primary instruction for French Horn and Electric Guitar, while also offering invigorating lessons in Trumpet, Trombone, and Piano/Keyboard. His customized lesson plans emphasize a healthy balance of core fundamentals—such as music theory, ear training, proper posture, and sight-reading—alongside the music his students are genuinely excited to play. Whether a student is preparing for a rigorous regional brass audition, learning their very first guitar chords, or an adult returning to the piano after decades away, Robert brings a patient, structured, and highly encouraging approach to every session.
