Meet Kaitlin - Piano and Flute Teacher
Hello my name is Mrs. Anderson I have been participating in the performing arts since I was very young. I started out by performing singing solos at church and school and continued to grow my talents over the years. I learned to play flute in third grade and continued to play until I reached the end of high school. I started performing in public theater and choir in middle school excited to see what I was capable of.
When I was twelve years old, after hearing my grandmother play piano in our home every day I decided I wanted to learn it as well. Piano being my second instrument, I had a head start on how to read music. My grandmother was patient and would work with me at the pace I needed to.
I am very excited to share that same level of teaching with all students I teach now. I was very humble and shy about my ability in playing the piano in high school. I would take my lunch hour to go to the choir room or the auditorium and practice everyday alone. My grandmother would push me to perform anyway. She signed me up for talent shows, and got my choir teacher to let me accompany the class at concerts. My father bought me my very own upright piano and flute when I was young. I held onto them both, having them in my own home now, I play everyday. The encouragement I received from my family gave me great motivation to pursue this career. They couldn’t be more proud to see how far I’ve come. You should expect nothing less from a music teacher for their own students. I believe anyone is capable of playing music they enjoy and expressing themselves. It takes time and isn’t easy but the reward is beyond worth it.
