Meet Lewis - Piano, Tuba, and Composition Teacher

Lewis Gehami was put into piano lessons at 9 years old. In the first couple years, Lewis would try to emulate the music he heard from video games and tv shows on the piano. During that time, he also wrote his own pieces on a little notebook. In his adolescence, Lewis started to engage more with his musical studies. He wrote more music with Finale, practiced piano more often, partook in the Piano Guild, and took AP Music Theory in high school.

Lewis attended Chapman University in Orange, CA, where he got his Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and Music Composition. There, he played several pieces which helped him develop his technique in addition to finding his own compositional voice. During this time, Lewis has learned to appreciate many different genres and styles of music, including classical, pop, rock, jazz, musical theater, and video game music.

Lewis started teaching music as a volunteer when he was 15. He has experience teaching in private and group settings. He has also volunteered for Banding Together-San Diego, where he helped people with special needs learn social skills through music. In college, Lewis has honed his teaching methods through his college pedagogy curriculum. Currently, Lewis teaches people in the Irvine-Mission Viejo area who are as young as 5 and as old as 30, and he hopes that you will consider going on a musical journey with him.
