Meet Karine - Piano and Music Theory Teacher

Karine is a dedicated music teacher with over 30 years of piano teaching experience to adults and children of all ages from diverse cultural backgrounds. Karine’s students have won multiple awards (in solo and duet categories) and have had appearances at Carnegie Hall in two consecutive years as prize winners of the BMTG international piano competition for the living and immortal composers, premiering works by contemporary composers. They have also participated in private masterclasses with composers, performing their own works.

She also offers music theory, ear training, rhythmic training, and ABRSM instruction both in private and in groups. Karine incorporates neurolinguistic programming, where appropriate, to facilitate learning and memorization of musical concepts through songs and gestures.

Karine has won numerous awards and competitions, and has performed internationally in the US, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. She has a live recording of piano solo works by Haydn, Brahms, Chopin and Debussy and has appeared on WQXR in a live broadcasting of chamber music from Mannes College of Music, in New York. Karine is also a Visual Artist with particular interest in portraiture. Her other interests include: Yoga, Tai Chi, Neurolinguistic Programming and the Alexander Technique.
