This fall, we’re offering an exciting learning opportunity for all musicians! Sign up now for an immersive songwriting and composition class taking place online - you can join from the comfort of your own home anywhere in the nation. Professional musicians and composers will be leading a class for all ages on how to take your writing skills to the next level. Whether you have experience in producing songs, or have simply always wanted to write a song, you are guaranteed to take something away from this class.

Details:

When: Thursday evenings at 5 pm PST, starting the first Thursday in October and running for 7 weeks (Please note: if your student is interested in participating but Thursday evenings don’t work, send an email to hello@awsom.info. If we get enough interest, we may hold the class on another day too!)
Where: Live online classes (a much more effective format as all students will need to use their own computers to access songwriting and composition software).
Who: Any young musicians ages 10+ interested in improving their skills!
Length: 60-minute classes
Cost: $25 per student per class, with each payment made at the beginning of the month for the classes you will attend.
Structure: Classes will cover a different topic each week, but it is not required to attend all of them!
Class size: 10-12 students (Kept small to ensure everyone has a chance to participate!)
Required equipment: A Mac desktop computer or MacBook laptop (GarageBand is only available for Mac but is free!) and a notebook of blank staff paper.

We’ll cover subjects like genre, studio recording, music theory (from simple to advanced), how to use GarageBand to create songs ranging in style from synths of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” to the soundtrack stylings of “Minecraft”, and many other techniques necessary to starting out as a songwriter or composer. By the end of the course, each student will have written at least 1 complete song of their own, having gone through several iterations to improve upon it each week.
