A Message From the Director

When I was a kid, I really wanted to be good at something. My parents were well off, but I seemed to be awful at everything I tried. Sports, school, karate, even socializing was tough for me. Try as I might, nothing ever stuck, and I was left feeling disappointed. 

One day in high school, I found myself in a choir room. My chosen elective (cooking class) was full, so I had been sent there. After one day, I knew I had found something special. My choir teacher asked me join the honor choir on the first day, and off I went. I started taking voice lessons, then guitar lessons, and eventually decided to major in music for college. My music teachers all along gave me so much wisdom and opportunity. I sang the lead role every year at college, and I went on to get a Teaching Assistantship for my Master’s Degree. And in the midst of it all I met my high school sweetheart (now wife) at a choir concert, found my faith, and now my career.

Music can change lives, and at AWSOM, we want to make the process of finding a great music teacher as quick and easy as possible. Our teachers travel to you or can do online lessons, and we pay them out of our own pocket when they do a free trial, so that money doesn’t get in the way of starting your musical journey.
