Meet William - Master Brass & Piano Teacher
William grew up in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico where he studied and taught music and performed as a freelance musician. He feels fortunate that throughout his musical career he has crossed paths with many incredible teachers and performers, who have shaped the musician and educator that he is today.
After earning a Bachelors Degree in Music from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, and then an M.M. and D.M.A. in trumpet performance from the University of Kansas, William went on to gain performance experience in a wide variety of settings that included chamber ensembles, symphony orchestras, and commercial music. He has performed with professional orchestras such as the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra, and Kansas City Symphony.
In addition to his love for performing, William is very passionate about teaching. He has taught students of all ages and levels in multiple instruments. At the university level William has taught both history and theory courses. Understanding that every students learning style is different, William believes an individualized approach to teaching is necessary. His goal as a teacher is to provide each student the necessary tools to develop the skills to become a better musician and instrumentalist, and to help and guide them to successfully accomplish their musical goals.
