Meet Lauren- Associate Guitar and Piano Teacher
Lauren Wooley is a Seattle-based musician, academic, and mathematician. She has a B.A. in Mathematics from Vassar College and an M.A. in Music from the Critical Studies/Experimental Practices program at the University of California, San Diego. She has played guitar for 20 years and experience teaching guitar for 12 years. She also plays drums, mandolin, and fiddle. Her compositions and performances explore sound, space, and movement through ideas of repetition, mapping, discontinuity, and boundedness. In addition to teaching at Awsom, she is an adjunct professor at California College of the Arts and a private math tutor. In her collaborative work, she is one half of the performative musical group The Mercurial Gay Beings and a guitarist, vocalist, and composer for the rock quartet The Galloping Sea.
